About me

Caregiver You Can Trust

I am a Registered Practical Nurse, Certified Advanced Foot Care Nurse and Entrepreneur, always on the look out for new research, new tips, new recipes, new hacks and new ways to maintain a healthy life. I enjoy spending all my working hours helping people as much as I can. Making new plans for my home business and watching them unroll into masterpieces excites me. Continually thinking of ideas on what to do next, how to make a difference and how to make my clients lives easier is how I spend my free time. My passion for nursing and being an entrepreneur have come together and I am excited for you to experience it.

Experienced and Supportive

I have been a RPN for over 11 years working in Acute Medicine and the Emergency Department. Nearing my 8 year anniversary, I decided to make two big choices in my career, one was to leave Acute Medicine and start a new journey as an Emergency Nurse. The second was to become a Foot Care Nurse and start my own business. In health care, research is steadily making progress and as a health care provider I am constantly updating my skills and knowledge through online courses, seminars and in-class education so that I provide the best care available.

Mission

Prior to becoming a nurse I worked as a Personal Support Worker in a Long Term Care and Retirement Facility. Here I became familiar with the senior population in my community and was able to determine which significant needs were not being provided regularly. As I started nursing school becoming a Foot Care Nurse was something that interested me but also made me realize that I could now be the one to provide this care. As a Certified Advanced Foot Care Nurse I am proud to offer my knowledge, skills and judgement when providing my clients with an outstanding holistic approach. Together we can develop a plan of care to nourish, maintain and support healthy, happy feet!

What is an Advanced Foot Care Nurse

Nursing foot care is an essential component of total nursing care. An Advanced Foot Care Nurse assess the holistic wellness of the individual, paying special attention to the health of the foot incorporating sense of sight, touch and smell to formulate a nursing diagnosis. The nurse performs treatments involving any pathology of the epidural layer of the skin and nails of the feet. These treatments are performed with the goal of promoting foot health, maintenance, restoration of lower extremities and prevention of lower limb complications. Along with treatment, providing education, acting as a community resource for the client and advocating for the clients total health and well-being are all part of the Scope of Practice for a Foot Care Nurse. When a skill is beyond the scope of practice it is the responsibility of the Foot Care Nurse to refer the client to an appropriate health professional.

Assessment & Treatment of Acute & Chronic Issues

The Foot Care Nurse will assess each client, from below the knee to the tip of the toes. The assessment includes the skin, the structure of the feet and the nails.

The nurse will use knowledge, skill and judgement to determine the treatment for the acute and chronic symptoms. Acute symptoms such as ingrown toenails and chronic symptoms such as corns can be assessed and treated or referred to the most appropriate provider if it is outside of the scope of practice of the foot care nurse.

Education & Maintenance of Healthy Feet

During assessment and treatment the nurse will educate the client. Proper client education is crucial to improve health status of their feet.

A plan of care is then organized by the foot care nurse together with the client to provide direction for individualized care. Outlined on the plan will be a list of diagnoses and how the client can continue treatment on their own in order to maintain healthy feet. If the client can not carry out the plan of care due to physical restrictions than other solutions will be determined to assist with this. Ensuring scheduled visits with the nurse are made and the length of time between visits is appropriate will be included in the plan of care.
